EVOH has been the most widely used high barrier material. In addition to the non-stretching type, the film types of this material include biaxial stretching type, aluminium evaporation type, adhesive coating type and so on. In the biaxial stretching type, there are heat-resistant type for aseptic packaging products.

The barrier performance of EVOH depends on the content of ethylene. Generally speaking, when the content of ethylene increases, the gas barrier decreases, but it is easy to process.

EVOH is characterized by excellent barrier and processability to gases, and excellent transparency, gloss, mechanical strength, flexibility, wear resistance, cold resistance and surface strength.

In the field of packaging, EVOH is made into composite film intermediate barrier layer, which is used in all hard and soft packaging; in the food industry, it is used in aseptic packaging, hot cans and cooking bags, packaging dairy products, meat, canned fruit juice and condiments; in the non-food field, it is used in packaging solvents, chemicals, air conditioning structural parts, lining of gasoline drums, electronic components, etc. In food packaging, EVOH plastic containers can completely replace glass and metal containers. Many domestic aquatic companies export seafood using PE/EVOH/PA/EVOH/PE five-layer co-extrusion membrane vacuum packaging. While accelerating the research of EVOH composite films, the orientation of EVOH is also studied abroad. The gas barrier performance of the new EVOH films is three times that of the existing high performance non-stretched EVOH films. In addition, EVOH can also be coated on other synthetic resin packaging materials as a barrier material to enhance the barrier performance.

EVOH products can be used not only in film production, but also in soft cosmetics packaging, heating pipes, jelly cups and pesticide bottles.
